M Ward Miffed at Mastercard

Seems Mastercard was denied use of M's cover of To Go Home, but still managed to use the song for it's commercial. Read all about it here.

Long Live The King

If you are a record collector, get a load of THIS!!

I get a call from this guy who owns a shop on 6th street here in town. He says a guy has brought in a few Elvis 45s and lps but a lot of it is just plain "tore up". Water damage. I ask if there are any Sun 45s (even in poor condition they go for several hundred dollars each on e-bay). He says Yes and I jet down there.

The majority of them are ruined beyond hope. But the three Sun records including the elusive #209 (The First Elvis 45) looked like they could be cleaned up. 3 of the other 45s from RCA were mint protected by plastic. A box with newspaper clippings was beside the records. TV guides and magazines with Elvis and a few Playboys from the early 70s. (basically trash). i noticed a small book titled Autographs as I dug through the box and shoved it down to the bottom. He wanted 20 for the box and 100 for the records. SOLD!!!!!!

As you can tell from the pictures, the records cleaned up nicely and the Autograph book held not one, but two Elvis signatures. One is from 1955, with both Bill Black and Scotty Moore. This was before Elvis signed with RCA and before Drummer DJ Fontana joined. Also present was signatures of Floyd Cramer and Hank Thompson. This leads me to believe the autographs were obtained during a show with the Louisiana Hayride.
The other signature is fat Elvis from Vegas circa 1970s. There was a advertisement clipping for a Vegas Show in the box.

The Sun records were an unbelievable find!!!! Elvis, Scotty and Bill's signatures made it ridiculous.
